Mico's portrait at 1.5 yrs old

I'm a full grown gal.

Hair getting longer & growing more pretty

Do I look like 'the underdog's girlfriend"

??

My vital statistics..6.4 kg.

See my swelt figure?

Mico, the thief - caught red-handed

The guilty Look...
Crime convicted with evidence below.

Before I could take any shots of Mico's greedy face while eating the dehydrated treats, she ate them all while we were out.

I had placed 2 packets of treats (sealed in their packaging)- the pack of dehyrated treats & a pack of cheese fondue on my sofa. Usually treats sealed in their packaging would remain untouched when Mico was given free roaming access.

Initially I had cornered Mico & Rover in the kitchen when we left. As I had forgotten my wallet and came back for it, I found both of them roaming free in the living room. Hence decided to put Rover in the playpen. I thought Mico could do harm so I let her free access.

While we were out watching " the underdog", Mico committed the act. She was caught red handed with the evidence. See pictures of the remains.

The dehyrated treats really smelt so nice. Mico must have loved it so much that she tore the ziplock bag, plastic bag and ate them all. The pack of cheese fondue remain untouched.

Mico is making me toy with the idea of buying the food dehyrator machine again. Perhaps Christmas, perhaps.

Rover & Mico again - 20 sept to 23 sept

Rover is here to board with us for another 3 days. Gee, Rover is so guai, more guai than Mico. Some kind soul gave Mico a pack of dehyrated treats (home made). Both Mico & Rover were so eager & happy to eat it till Mico accidently bit my finger.

Mico & skin woes

Poor Mico. Have been itchy for at least a month. she has been having itchy pimples, sometimes with pus about 3 times. the 1st 2 times, i applied aloe vera gel and put her on e-collar. The red angry pimples subsidied after about 3 days while some raw wounds into scabs, which meant that her skin was healing. Before they could fully heal, a new bout of pimples would appear & she would scratch them as well as the old wounds.

Today is the 3rd bout of pimples. Wondering what could trigger the allergy. I do not want to bring her to the vet and unsubject her to any unnecessary medicine. I need to find out the source of allergy to lessen her itch. Would have to monitor her diet. Suspect that she may be allergic to sand.

I vaguely recalled bringing to the East Coast Park for a walk along the beach after which the 1st bout of pimples occured.

Yesterday, we were at Sentosa. Diet was Canidae lamb kibbles & Bow Wow mixed snacks. Nothing else.

Man, the superior gender - a fact of life

As usual, during class, lecturer would off-track at times to share his experiences, stories, opinion on issues etc.

Facing a class of 90% female, he mentioned that many companies discriminated against women. He advised that if we were to look for a new job, singles should not mentioned that they planned to get married. Married ones should not mentioned about plans to have kids. Most companies would not hire a woman as an top executive unless she is single and tough like the boys. Must also be able to withstand dirty jokes that men crack, entertain clients and drink till 2am daily. Even if any woman could do this, no men would be able to tolerate their wives coming home at 2am daily. When kids got sick, the woman would be the ones going home to take care of them instead of the men.

All the talk about equality of gender is rubbish!

What he said simply supports my believe that men & women are never equal.

Mico - I learnt new trick!

I learnt a new trick today. With the help of treats of course! Why else would I want to learn a new trick other than being able to help myself to plenty of treats!

I learnt how to "Turnover", which is basically to roll my body over. Actually, it's so simply but my mummy is so fascinated. Ah! Humans can be so simple minded.

Bad Bad Mico

Yesterday I got very angry with Mico.
The previous day, I discovered her peed on the sofa. Had to wash & dry the sheets.
Next morning, I found her poo on the floor rag. Furthermore, it was the soft type so I had to mop the floor and wash the rag.
Before I went out, I decided to put the freshly laundered sheets back onto the sofa.
Came back home a few hours later to find her pee on the sofa again. A different spot this time.

I was so mad with Mico that I decided to lock her in the toilet for the rest of the day while I went out. I simply refused to come home early to let her out. I knew that if i were to go home early, I would let her out. So she stayed in the toilet for 5 hours while I went mum's place & IMM.

When i opened the toilet door, she was so happy to see me and behaved as if she did nothing wrong. Apparently, after the few hours, she seemed to have forgotten about the incident. But I was still mad, ignored her and locked her in the kitchen for the night.

Usually, I would get over her naughtiness after 1 or 2 hours. But yesterday, I was simply so mad. Others say that dogs have a forgiving nature. I wondered the reality of it. Is it true? I doubt so. Why else would Mico behave this way other than throwing temptrums?
Seriously, I could not think of any other reason.

Mico & birds

Mico is wonderful with recall now. We went jogging this morning and after our jog, I deliberately took a slow walk so that she could check out the surroundings. Being the dog that was bullied by a crow when she was a pup and now fully grown and fearsome to birds, she gave chase to the birds. My intention was to check out the reliability of her recall and while she was chasing birds halfway, I called her back. Immediately, she stopped in her chase and came back running to me. How proud I was of Mico!

ckcs

the gal who wanted to give me her ckcs called yesterday to ask me to take the dog. Earlier, I had already given up hope that she would give up her dog.
But I had in mind a nice friday with dar and already had plans so I told the gal I could not take in the dog yesterday. Now wondering if she will still give me the dog. Perhaps it went to another person already. I think ultimately, I'm not desperate for another dog, which was why i did not cancel my plans yesterday.
Anyway, I'll just wait. If the dog comes, then i'll love him like I love Mico. Otherwise, I will not think of him again.

Mico at 1st Pawzman BBQ

We had a BBQ for dog lovers at Toa Payoh South CC on 25 Aug.
I was working that day so I couldn't go. So the event below was narrated by hubby.

Mico went with hubby.
Hubby had to attend class at 2pm but the event only started at 5pm.
So Mico was left abandoned in the box with some pawzcafe members.

As usual, the dog shy Mico did not play with any dogs. She just hung around sitted on a chair, under the hot BBQ stove with hubby BBQing or in other people's lap. There was a nice lady who sayang her for a long long time. Others fed her meatballs & cookies.

Mico ran away a few times. Luckily hubby was alert enough to hear her bell ringing & called her back, which she promptly did. I thought Mico was bad at recall. I guessed she improved. Anyway hubby tot that it might be that Mico wanted to go to the grass patch downstairs to poo. When Mico finally headed downstairs to the grass patched, she immediately pooed.

In the midst of the BBQ, it started to rain. Poor Mico was left sitting in the rain. Luckily a nice lady grabbed Mico and went for shelter. Otherwise, my poor Mico would be a wet wet dog.

Mico ended up so full that she did not want any dinner. Being out from 2pm to 10pm, she was super tired & fell asleep on the way home. Knocked out till the next day...

Was told by those who atttended that Mico was super guai and is a very very very good dog. hahaha..

99 posts - way to go, Mico

Wow, realised this is already the 100 post on my blog.
Way to go!

Brought Mico to East Coast Park for our dinner on Tuesday.
After dinner at the hawker centre, we went for a walk along the beach.
Mico happily played with the waves. Ran along the coast & chase the waves. She was so excited and happy & ran all over the place. Going to the beach is her favourite now.

Phuket purchases & fun

Being an asian city gal, there was nothing much I wanted to buy from the small shops at Phuket. T-shirts, thailand souveniors..none captured my interests. Worse of all, items were deliberately overpriced, just waiting for you to bargain. Really a test of bargaining skills. Imagine a haversack (can't rem the brand..probably imitation deuter) that costs $1150. I could have gotten a geninue one in SG. Even if I managed to bargain to half price, the quality was still not worth the price.
Hence my purchases at Carrefour, Phuket. 6 bras, 2 undies, 6 pairs of shoes, a haversack - all for 4500 baht, which is about $225 SG.
My only purchase at the small shop was a Bikini. Original price at 450B but i managed to get it at 260B. Quite happy with my attempt at bargaining even though I knew i could get a bikini at shopping mall at 199B. To walk to the shopping mall which was quite a distance just to buy at 50B less, I would rather pay 50B more.
260B is only $13 SG. Hubby said can bring into SG to sell considering the cheapest swimwear - the one piece is about $30 already. Somemore, there were so many designs to choose from.
Had a great time at a jazz pub called Saxophone pub. Simply great. The fellow played 3 types of saxophone. Tenor, alto, Saprino. So many people were dancing.
Fell in love with a poodle at the internet shop as hubby kept going there to surf net everyday. The poodle was adorable and the owner said he would get excited when he knew i was coming. What a smart dog. He barked when other customers entered the shop, but not at me..hahaha

CKCS

Almost could have adopted a male ckcs but the daughter eventually did not want to give up. The parents told me "not willing to give up yet". What does that mean? That they will give it up eventually? Wondering how long i have to wait. My wait has already been a month. I have already given up thoughts of laying my hands on him..hahah...Having Mico is sufficient.

When he visited, there was nothing else he wanted to do except to hump Mico. An untrained vegetarian dog.

Cake

So proud of my cake..hahaha

Want to perfect my cake baking skills...haha

Sigh...

Chicken soup for the dog lover's soup & Amazing Grace

Read these books after recommendation from forum.
Amazing Grace is about this dog which refused to eat any pet food until the owner started to bake for her. This sparked the start of the "three dog bakery" for dog. The receipe for baking peanut cookies for Mico came from the "three dog bakery receipe book"

Chicken soup is all about heart to heart tales about dogs and their owners. Mainly big dogs, retriever, german shepard & small dogs only terrier.

This morning, Mico nugged my hand at 9am with her head. It then dawned on me that Mico had been doing that almost daily at the same time. It is her way of asking me to wake up without barking..haha. To think that I had already put a stop to her waking me up with barking months ago. Din realise that she has already found another way..hahaha

Belated Bday Celebration with frens

My dear pals arranged for a belated bday gathering at Fish & Co. Bought me a very delicious chocolate cake and nice bag as a present.

At Fish & Co, the entire crew would announce your birthday to the customers at the restaurant. Initially, they asked me to stand on the chair which I rejected. Then I was asked to at least stand up which I obliged. I thought my fren J, sabo me..hahaha. After which they gave me a stick of firework and gave 3 cheers and sang me a bday song. I tot it was quite embarrasing but it was such a sweet gesture of my frens to arrange this for me. hehehe. Nevertheless, being the thick-skin me (cultivated from my job), I wasn't too shy to accept this.

It was also kinda romantic with all the surprises. J remarked if only she were a guy but then again, she does not have the height. hahaaha. Anyway it's been a long time since I celebrated my bday with any pals. Really appreciated it as my J's gal was down with fever but she still did not cancel the gathering.

Current job really sucks big time but it's the frenship & colleagues that keeps me around this job. How often does one get to meet such good pals & nice colleagues that makes u feel like it's 2nd home & a rather nice superior?

Pet boarding - 26 June to 2 July

boarding 2 cute dogs. A 9 yr old poodle, JJ & her daughter, Monster, a poodle cross with shetland. Very pretty gal.

Monster was barking her head off during the 1st & 2nd day when we went to work. Afraid that neighbours would complain, I recorded their movement for the 1st 45 mins (the max my camera would record). She was practially barking her head off.

They are supposed to be outdoor trained but for the 1st 2 days, hubby came back to find the floor very dirty, full of LS.

Poor Mico was also very fraid of them and we had to separate them (mico in my room and the gals in the kitchen for 1st 2 days)

Initially, we confined them in the kitchen. But smart JJ could always figure her way out. She outsmarted me so many times till I gave up confining them. Since their toilet habits seemed to be normal after the 1st 2 days, I let them roam around the house. Luckily they did not fail me. Happy to come back no damage done.

My only damages so far are. A wet cushion (with pee), a spoilt laundry net, a hole in my laundry basket.

Today, the gals no longer bark when we leave the house. When we returned home, there were no damages, no urine, no poo to clear. The gals were happily welcoming us at the door. It felt as if I am their owner..hahaha. No hint of missing their owner at all.

Brought them jogging today. JJ, though a senior dog, tried her best to move along with the Mico & Monster. Mico has already gotten used to the gals. Could even put her & Monster on coupler lease. We had so much fun. It was so fun to see them walking on 1 single leash (a coupler with hook on the 1st leash to hook the 2nd leash. At least JJ could walk behind Mico & Monster.

Now the dogs are happily snoozing in my room. 3 dogs, 2 humans, all in 1 room when we live in a 4 room flat. Guess they're happy with the squeeze. So am I.

our first visit to pet cafe

The latest pet cafe in town. Quite nice. Mico loved the food very much. Sticked out her tongue to ask for more after she finished.

Friendly staff but service was slow. Mico finished her food. Then my food came. I finished mine. Dar's food came. I guess the concept of the cafe is to let patrons hang around while food is slowly served.

Parts of my rosemary chicken was quite hard. Couldn't even poke my fork through. Dar's fish & chips were too hot to be eaten immediately. And Mico LS today. Suspected culprit was the food. Expected it because Mico was not used to HCF.

Nevertheless, it is a good place for dog lovers to hang around and see other dogs fool around.

Poodles in town

Going to have 2 poodles for pet boarding tomorrow till next monday. So excited.

Dead cat

As usual, went jogging yesterday with Mico along the canal. Saw what resembled a dead cat carcass floating in the canal. Could not believe my eyes and looked again before continuing my jog. But when I went back again to confirm my findings, I did not see it anynore.
still left in suspense if my eyes were playing tricks or if someone cruel threw the cat into the river. Certainly, a cat would not jump into the canal itself.

doggie peanut biscuit

Baked biscuits for Mico.

Got the recipe from the three dog bakery book I borrowed from library.
Plain flour, honey, canola oil, peanuts, vanila essence and baking powder. Quite easy to make. I ate it myself too. Quite nice. Mico seemed to like it. Stupid Dar don't know how to appreciate it. Always think that I will poison him.

BARF & beatle

So gross. Mico played with the brown beatle. It got stuck onto her leg fur. She brushed it away and to play with it again. Finally ate it leaving only its legs. Then she continued licking the floor. Gross. Wonder if it is because i've started feeding Mico BARF since Monday. She loves Barf.

Initially she looked at the chicken wing, looked at me and wondered for a while. But soon she started eating. Since then, whenever I gave her raw meaty bones, she would dive in straight away.

Not eating kibbles anymore. Her poo has become white, very hard, lesser amount of poo and hardly gives out any smell. So good.

Disappointed

This CKCS, male, tri-colour was found abandoned and up for adoption. Went to visit him and so very much would like to have him. A brother for Mico.

Too bad, the fosterer decided to give to another couple so that he can be the only dog at home.

Disappointed but hope that he has gone to a good home with a loving family.

anyway, 2 dogs can be tedious. Don't think will have another dog unless it is CKCS. Then i wouldn't mind.

How much is that doggie in the window??

While getting her out, hit the panic button when I found the sliding door jammed. Tot her paws jutted out too much, causing the jam. Scared I hurt her in the process & cannot get her out. Ai ya, scare myself only. Discovered that it was my notepad in the next section of the cupboard causing the jam. Stupid me....hahhahaha..

Mico & I were too bored mah. hahaha

Mico can Swim

My dear Mico can swim liao. Yesterday we brought her to Sentosa. After tons of swimming lessons, she can finally swim with confidence instead of shaking with fear. All we have to do is to let her swim freely and go up the shore freely. that means I'll have to chase after her (for fear she goes up to shore to disturb people or go back to my things & trample all over with sand.) One lady shooed Mico before I could get to her but Mico completely din get a hint at all. Simply stayed on the spot. What a naive dog.

We were happily swimming and watching other toy breed dogs, who struggled in the water and headed towards shore hurrily. Some owners watched with envy while Mico swam, or at least i think so..haha..Only a puppy labordor seemed gungo to swim.

Reason for sterlisation

Many times, I asked myself or people asked me why I sent Mico for sterlisation. Most of the times, I could not really answer. Today I finally figured out why.

My poor Mico, it must have hurt. I know it was cruel but it would be more cruel to not to sterlise you and leave you yearning to have a sexual life. Afterall this is animal instinct. Call it kiasi, I do not want to lose you to cancer or see you kenna bullied by male dogs yearning to have sex when you do not wish to. I simply do not know how to take care of you if you got pregnant and do not want you to go through the dangers of pregnancy. Your offsprings, if you had, I would not be able to take care of them all myself. Neither did I want them to suffer and risk being abandoned. Thus I think I have made the right decision and I hope that you understand.

To me, you are more than a pet. You are my best friend, keeping me company whenever I am home. Since you came into my life, I never felt that I was at home alone you when you are around. Every morning, I wake up to receive greetings from you...yah..sometimes you are so lazy that you do not wish to leave your bed, just like me. I can disturb you even in the middle of the night and you would not have any grouches.

You bring me lots of fun and laughter with your antics and help to cement the love between your daddy and me. Your daddy, who never thought that he will have a dog, grow to love you more day by day. We will be celebrating your 1 year anniversary with us soon. Looking forward to more anniversaries. I love you, Mico.

A bad dream

Last night, I dreamt about Mico being knocked down by a car.

I off-leashed her the other day at the canal and asked her to down & stay. As i walked away from her, trying to train her stay, she simply could not bear to be away from me and would follow me. Then I wondered if this disobedience would result in her being in a car accident someday. At least I could save her if she followed my command. Thus i guess, triggered the occurence of my dream. I was so relieved that it was a dream when I woke up.

who should bear the cost

Recently someone bought a kong ball from me via Yahoo Auction. I offered 3 choices of collection, meet up , normal mail or registered mail, with the buyer bearing the cost of mail. She requested the item to be sent via normal mail. So i sent and she din receive.

Been 2 weeks and now she requested for me to give her another one or refund. Like that, it means that I bear the risk lor. But since she paid for postage and she opted for normal mail when i offered registered mail, shouldn't she be the one to bear the risk? I can also suspect that she received the item but simply wanted another. Her email din sound very nice too.

Hi AudreyI bought a kong ball recently and have yet to receiveit though you said you sent it.I have checked with Yahoo Auctions and they advised meto sort it out with you before taking any furtheraction. Can you please resend the item, or offer a refund?Alternatively, I could pick it up this time.Thanks.

Anyway, strange thing is that I had indicated my return address. Even if it din get to her, it should still return to me. I pasted 5 $0.22 stamps. Even if the item dropped out, the blank envelope should still go somewhere right?

Hubby said that do business must have goodwill, then will have good reputation. So no choice but to offer her another one lor..

In future, will not give anyone normal mail option. Learnt from my lesson.

Favourite picture of hubby & Mico

Technical difficulties

Lousy blogger. Couldn't update my blog recently as blogger was down whenever I wanted to write something...haha..so i forgot what I wanted to write.

Mico went for sterlisation on 8 May & recovered quite fast. But 1st 2 days, she pooed in the kitchen instead of the toilet. A bit loss of control. Went back to her usual self quite fast after that
The next day, she was already quite happily walking abt. So glad that I was not as what I envisioned, 1 week lying there motionless...haha

Growing old & being couch potato

Found so many strands of white hair recently. Too stressed or growing old? Sob Sob..
No choice, already have a nephew liao.

It's the time of the year for mugging books. But i don't have the determination to sit down & study. After every hour of studying, I will want to move about and do other things such as blogging, surfing net, doing housework etc. I'm a sucker for Romantic drama serials. Colleague loaned one to me recently, only to find myself unable to puck myself away from the TV screen. Corner with love. Watched & cried. So nice that I bought myself a set from yahoo auction. Also finished watching another set that sister lent me. Reason that I delayed buying a TV and lived with 14" TV for a year is that I do not want to be a couch potato. Somehow, there seems to be more important things in life to do...like filing myself with knowledge and passing my exams. Nevertheless, I love being couch potato. Can't pluck myself away from romantic drama serials. haha

Such is the life of a part-time student & full time employee. So no fun!
